Thank you, Madam President,

My delegation would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the Co-Chairs of the Informal Ad Hoc Working Group for their tireless efforts and dedication over the past six months from preparation to final adoption of our resolution.

My delegation voted in favor of this historic resolution, which represents a collective commitment of Member States to the UN80 Initiative and sends out important signal to the entire United Nations system and to people we serve. It is now our responsibility to ensure the full implementation of the commitments contained in the resolution.

The follow-up Mandate Implementation Review Working Group must build on these achievements to bring about more substantial and systematic change. Success of the new Working Group will depend on Member States’ continued engagement with an open and constructive attitude toward change.

Following the approval of the 2026 regular budget last December, which endorsed some significant efficiency measures, the adoption of this resolution today marks yet another important step forward in sustaining the momentum of the UN80 reform initiative.

We must not lose this window of opportunity and should continue our collective efforts. We should further institutionalize a culture of efficiency, advance the mandate reform process, and streamline the United Nations system to make it more nimble and impactful.
